Yumion / Health score
How the Yumion health score works
Every product you scan gets a score from 0 to 100 and a word for it, with the reasons in plain language. Here is exactly how it is worked out.

Three parts
- 60%Nutrition. The 2023 Nutri-Score points for the product, from −15 (best) to 40 (worst), turned into 100 to 0. We use Open Food Facts’ points when it has them, and work them out from the nutrition label when it doesn’t.
- 30%Additives. Starts at 100, less 50 for each high-risk additive and 20 for each moderate-risk one. Every penalty says where the risk rating comes from.
- 10%Organic. 100 with an organic label, otherwise 0.
Two caps
A product with any high-risk additive can’t score above 49. Neither can one in Nutri-Score’s lowest band, E. The worst band never reads “Good”.
The words
- Great75 to 100
- Good50 to 74
- Fair25 to 49
- Poor0 to 24
When the ingredients aren’t on file
A missing ingredient list isn’t treated as a clean one. The additives part is left out, nutrition and organic are weighed up to 100 between them, and the reasons say the additives weren’t checked.
Allergies and diets
If someone in your household can’t have an ingredient, Yumion flags the product for that person. An allergy never changes the score: the score is about the food, and the flag is about your table.
Where the data comes from
Nutrition facts and ingredients come from the product’s label and from Open Food Facts, the open food database. The score informs. It isn’t medical advice.
