Yumion helps you compare grocery prices and see how healthy food is. Here is what we keep, why, and what we never do. If anything is unclear, write to hello@yumion.app.

Your account

You sign in with Apple, and only with Apple. Your Yumion account is the user id Apple gives us for our app. We don’t use passwords, and we don’t link accounts by email address. If Apple shares an email address with us, it is only used to reach you about your account.

Scans and prices

When you scan a barcode or a shelf tag, the price you scanned is saved as a price observation: the product, the price, the store and the time. That is how Yumion learns real shelf prices, and other shoppers see those prices. To know which store you are in, the app uses your location while you scan.

Your household and health

You can tell Yumion who you cook for, along with diets and allergies, so prices can be shown per serving and products can be flagged for the right person. If you share lab results to tune food suggestions, we don’t store the results themselves. We keep only the food preferences worked out from them, such as “go easy on salt”.

Subscriptions

Yumion Plus is bought through the App Store. Apple handles the payment. We receive the record of the subscription, not your card details.

What we never do

We use service providers to run Yumion, such as the hosting for our servers and the AI models behind some features. They process data only to provide those services to us.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account from inside the app. Deleting it removes your account, your sign-ins and the households you own, and takes you out of the households you joined. Prices you scanned stay in the price index, no longer tied to you.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date at the top.
